Why Must We Have Cheap Insurance Adverts Rammed Down Our Throats Everywhere We Go?

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

Driving up the M6 a couple of weeks ago I couldn’t help but notice the amount of lorries on the road, not just the little ones but the huge ones too. Here’s a lorry carrying building supplies, here’s another with a oil container on the back, another one with nothing on at all and of course the supermarket one offering cheap insurance deals. I don’t think he had particularly cheap insurance deals on the rear of his truck but he did appear to be advertising their availability above everything else that his employer had to offer.

At least this sort of advertising is completely restricted to when we see the outside trucks and lorries at this time. I wonder what it will be like in future? Will we see cheap truck insurance advertised on the side of aeroplanes, will our commuter trains be liveried with the logos of insurance brokers offering cheap insurance?

What is this obsession with cheap insurance anyway? Everywhere you look they are offering us cheap insurance aren’t they? On the telly, on the tube, on our petrol pumps, even when we’re relieving ourselves at the service station there is the advert staring us in the face. “Aim higher for cheap truck insurance!”

Is it me or does it seem that only insurance is sold in this manner? You don’t very often see adverts for dog food or the most recent furniture sale at DFS in motorway service station toilets do you? Is the little doggie with the toilet tissue staring out at us from the back of a (cheaply insured) truck? No, I don’t think he is.

Perhaps it is the very fact that these advertisements for insurance are focused towards us when we feel at our most vulnerable that makes the people in insurance advertising consider that they will work. The poor guy in his little car, overshadowed by a huge great beast of a lorry and its insurance ads might be more receptive to a cheap deal.

Next time you driving on the motorway, look around and see how many cheap insurance deals you are being offered. You will have adverts on the sides of trucks, in fields, in toilets, on petrol pumps, bins and magazines. There will be adverts for cheap insurance on the radio and on the TV screens in the service stations. There might even be a low cost truck insurance salesman sitting alongside you now as you sip your well earned cuppa in the Watford Gap services. Cheap insurance is all around, let’s hope in the interest of our children that the idea doesn’t catch on!

If you are in fact looking for some kind of insurance at the moment, then it would be well worth getting an experienced broker to secure you a deal like the guys at Coversure. Whether you’re after truck insurance or caravan insurance Coversure have great relationships with countless insurance providers and can secure you a great deal.

Fleet Lamentations

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

Something about the nature of insurance seems to make people want to pay as little as possible for it. Cars on the other hand, people seem to be willing to pay through the nose for, but when it comes to insurance, everyone wants the cheapest. The latest way of doing this is by grouping everyone that lives in the same house under a policy called family fleet insurance.

The concept of fleet insurance is all very well for people who have families of careful drivers (yeah, right) but what about those who live with a boy racer? It sounds like some family members could end up paying more for a combined fleet insurance policy.

Fleet insurance was originally intended to work was with 100 or so of the same car all insured by a company for their staff to drive. However in actual fact most fleets are made up of different kinds of vehicles. Minibuses, Lorries, HGVs and even Tractors can wind up insured on the same fleet insurance policy.

If you ever find yourself on a long journey and very very bored, there is a little game you can play as a cheap (very cheap) way of passing the time. You look at each vehicle that passes you (or that you pass) and try to work out whether or not they are insured on fleet insurance. The good thing about this game is that you can’t really lose (unless you’re going to stop each car you make a guess at and ask them about the details of their insurance) but to help you win, here are some tips;

Vehicles that are clearly owned by a company i.e. those that display a logo will probably be covered under fleet insurance, cheaper vehicles are probably not (if indeed they’re covered at all!) cars driven by racers who speed around roads are almost certainly not, police cars almost certainly are, and what about other kinds of businesses? Butchers, bakers, candlestick makers taking out fleet insurance? Maybe!

How would you decide whether to insure your vehicle on a fleet or not? Easy really – find out if it’s cheaper to insure your car that way before you start! It’s best not to ask a meerkat or an obese opera singer. Chances are they won’t be able to help you at all let alone compare you. Best to ask a real live walking talking insurance broker. If you want to find cheap fleet insurance it pays to discuss your insurance requirements with real live people! Enjoy the game!

If you think that you could benefit from fleet insurance then you should give Coversure a call. They are specialist insurance brokers with great relationships with some of the country’s most prestigious insurance providers so they can secure you great deals on anything from fleet insurance to caravan insurance.

Penalties For Driving With No Insurance

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

Insurance is something that is entirely required if you are to remain legal as a motorist. Drivers in almost every state in America will require a certain level of insurance and if they fail to do this then they can be liable to receive different penalties and punishments from the correct authorities. The type of punishments that you can get for driving with no insurance will depend upon the infraction and the state in which you live.

Typically there are two different types of infractions for driving with no insurance policy. One of these is when a driver has an insurance policy but fails to show it when they are stopped during a traffic stop and the other is when a driver has absolutely no type of insurance at all.

The most common type of punishment that you will get from not having an insurance policy will be some sort of ticket and a resulting fine alongside it. The amount of the fine can range from several hundred dollars all the way up to a fair few thousand depending upon which state the infraction was in and the severity of the infraction itself.

Offering you will also see that you get points added to your license as a result of certain tickets being applied. The number of points that you get added to your license will be dependent upon the classification of the infraction and the state in which you live. For some states you will not get any points, but in others you will get up to 3.

If you were to be involved in an accident and you had no insurance policy for the vehicle then you might actually have your entire license revoked and suspended. The licence could be taken away for a certain period of time or for the period up until you are able to pay back all of the charges and costs associated with the accident.

If an individual were to get a ticket and therefore have to pay a fine but not be in a position to handle this financial responsibility they may actually face jail time as well. Jail time can also be given out if someone causes an accident and therefore injury to other people when they do not have an insurance policy for the vehicle they are driving.

Often all the fines and all of the costs that are associated with any problems that you might have as a motorist will be a lot more than the cost of any insurance policy. As such, it is far more financially prudent to simply get insurance and avoid all of the associated costs for the punishments that you are putting yourself in a position of receiving.

Driving with no insurance is a heavy crime and if you’ve been accused of it, then you will probably be charged, but the extent of your punishment can be brought down with the help of sound legal advice and defence. Click on permitting no insurance for more information.
